1. Visa & Immigration Assistance
Employees assigned to work abroad for 90 days or longer typically require a work visa from the destination country, but obtaining that visa is often a lengthy and complicated process. Visa requirements and regulations differ depending on the employee’s host country, current state of residence, intended length of stay, job description and anticipated compensation, number of dependents, and many other factors.

Matrix obtains work visas and related documents, such as passports and international driver’s licenses for U.S. employees (and their families) relocating to destinations worldwide. Through our partnership with the largest U.S.-based provider of business visas and passports, we offer a comprehensive Visa and Immigration Assistance program that combines personalized counseling with exacting attention to detail and critical deadlines. We’ll help you expedite the visa process and reduce your administrative time and cost investment, while easing the burden on you and your expatriates.

For companies relocating employees into the U.S., we offer a referral to experienced immigration lawyers who are skilled in dealing with INS requirements as they apply to foreign national employees. We will liaise with your attorney, relocation department and your employee to facilitate a successful and timely outcome to your petition for a US visa.

2. Temporary Living
In recent years, the quality and availability of temporary corporate housing has improved dramatically in many overseas locations to meet the demands of a growing expatriate population. As these new options have become available, Matrix has continued to build its network of qualified providers and can now assist with arranging temporary housing in 400 cities worldwide. Your counselor will carefully coordinate the employee’s term in temporary housing with delivery of his household goods to the permanent residence. For employees on short-term assignment we will secure competitively priced temporary living.

3. Cross Cultural & Language Training
Understanding the host country culture as it applies to daily living and business practice is vital to the success of a global assignment, for your expatriates and their families. Matrix's cross-cultural training programs focus on preparing family members to adapt successfully to their new life abroad, whether they are outbound U.S. expatriates or foreign nationals inbound to the U.S. Our programs can include sessions created specifically for accompanying spouses, school-aged children, and teens. Training can be delivered pre-departure or in the destination city, and in one- or two-day training sessions.

The ability to speak and understand the language of the host country is essential to a successful transition for your expatriates and their families, especially for accompanying spouses and partners. Matrix offers a flexible language training program that can be customized to meet varying needs and schedules. The program is available at both departure or destination locations, with individual or group instruction, and through immersion or traditional classroom methods.

4. Destination/Settling In Services
The vast majority of international transferees today rent rather than purchase property abroad. Working with a global network of qualified rental and relocation professionals, we offer your expats a full compliment of home finding services for both single-family homes and apartments. These services include providing information about the rental process in the destination area, researching school and medical resources where appropriate, arranging accompanied property showings, providing lease negotiation assistance, and assisting transferees with Statements of Condition and utility hook-ups.

We also provide a wide array of Settling-In Services to help speed your expatriates’ integration into the host country, including assisting with municipality registrations, locating appropriate shopping resources, locating domestic help, arranging banking, and providing information on recreational resources, area expatriate clubs, child care options, driver’s licenses and furniture rentals.

5. Auto Lease/Purchase
Returning expatriates who have been abroad for three years or more and newly arrived foreign national employees will find that U. S. banks typically do not recognize their credit histories, which can make it extremely difficult for them to quickly finance a car. In most cases the employee will be required to pay nearly half the cost of the car up front and finance the balance at a price far above current market rates. Our program provides a viable solution to this problem. Provided at no cost to employers, the program gives employees the opportunity to lease or purchase select models from Ford, GM, Volkswagen, Audi or Daimler Chrysler for no money down, and at factory-direct wholesale prices or guaranteed lowest lease rates. Arrangements for the car must be made prior to the employee’s entry into the US from the host country. The car is delivered and waiting to be picked up when the employee arrives in the US.

6. Move Management
Our comprehensive international move management program draws on an experienced network of service providers in more than 70 countries to ensure the safe, stress-free delivery of your expatriates’ household goods shipments, expert arrangement of their storage needs, and maximum cost control to you.

7. COLA
Matrix's Cost-of-Living Services are designed to give you a “snapshot” glimpse of the cost differences between your transferees’ departure and destination locations, including typical costs for housing, consumables, transportation, health services, and other variables. Your transferees receive this service free of charge. More comprehensive cost-of-living comparisons are also available for a fee.

8. Property Management
For those employees transferring abroad who wish to rent their homes in the US, Matrix has developed a comprehensive property management program. In partnership with a national network of residential property management specialists, we will establish optimal rent for the home, advertise, screen tenants, show the property, negotiate lease terms, collect rent, make mortgage payments, set up desired maintenance contracts, perform regular inspections and report status to the owners
